At the end of August, the insur_space by MAPFRE team was present in the Selection Day of the Insurtech vertical of the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale, California to identify potential start-up participants.
The Plug and Play Tech Center is one of the best innovation ecosystems in the world, with a sophisticated selection of companies in a multitude of categories. In total, there were two full days of activities with the opportunity to meet more than 60 emerging companies. The result? Three of the start-ups that met there will now be participating in the insur_space adoption program. An appointment to recommend for its ‘high level networking’ and access to a rich ecosystem of innovation within the ‘insurtech’ sector.
Josep Celaya, MAPFRE’s Global Director of Transformation and Managing Director of the insur_space by MAPFRE program, also participated in the Digital Insurance Agenda (DIA) event, held in Munich on October 17 and 18. At this event, he presented MAPFRE’s commitment to the ‘insurtech’ sector, in line with the launching of insur_space.
During his speech, he emphasized some of the most important factors needed to prosper in a digital ecosystem like insurtech: efficient technology, a focus of strategic attention, an improvement of the “time-to-market” (time it takes for a proposal to hit the market) and open innovation systems.
“The new challenge is to be relevant, to be at the right time and offer the best service for consumers. The insurance sector should be present at all times in the lives of customers,” said Celaya.
